In July 2026, our association will represent Tutrakan and the Danube Dobrudzha region at the International Danube Festival in Ulm and Neu-Ulm, Germany – the largest cultural event dedicated to the countries and communities along the Danube River.
Held every two years, the festival brings together artists, cultural organizations, institutions and visitors from all Danube countries. For ten days, both banks of the river become a vibrant meeting place where cultures, traditions and ideas are shared and celebrated.
At the heart of the festival is the Market of the Danube Countries, where visitors can discover authentic handicrafts, traditional and contemporary music, dance performances and culinary specialties from across the Danube region. The programme also includes concerts, exhibitions, literary events and activities for visitors of all ages.
This year, our association will present the tourism opportunities and unique heritage of the Tutrakan region – one of the most authentic and still largely undiscovered destinations along the Lower Danube. Visitors will have the opportunity to learn more about the area's rich natural and cultural heritage, traditional fishing culture, kayaking and boat experiences, local gastronomy, and the remarkable islands and wetlands surrounding Tutrakan.
During the festival, we will also take part in the annual meeting of the Danube Guides Network, of which we have been a member since its establishment. The network brings together professionals from across the Danube region who work to promote sustainable tourism, protect natural and cultural heritage, and strengthen cooperation between local communities along the river.
The International Danube Festival is a showcase of international partnership, cultural exchange and the idea of “unity in diversity.” It demonstrates how culture, tourism and cooperation can bring people together beyond borders and create stronger connections throughout the Danube region. We are proud to be part of this remarkable event once again and to present Tutrakan and Danube Dobrudzha to an international audience.
